My New Blog

I can see grass in my yard.
March 4th, 2010 12:36 PM

At last!  The snow is beginning to subside.  My lawn is beginning to peak out!  What does that mean to you?

TIME TO BUY A NEW HOME!!!!!

Seriously.  Do you want me to have to borrow money from my in-laws?  Because, I will if you don't use me as your Realtor.  Can you handle that on your conscience?  I don't think you can....

Most successful Realtors spend a great deal of money advertising, networking and creating a strong business reputation.  I don't.  I beg and threaten.  It doesn't work as well, but it's kind of fun.....

Who are my readers?
January 27th, 2010 5:03 PM

I see that my blog is read about 50 times a week!  Not bad....  It might just be my Mom, but let's do a little test....

Post a comment to this blog! Tell me about yourself, or tell me what you want to know!  Remember, I am just about the best Realtor on Earth, so I can answer anything!!!!

See if you can stump me with your Real Estate question!  Or just make a comment, say something inappropriate, berate me!  I can handle it...

Oh, and YOU NEED TO PUT YOUR HOUSE ON THE MARKET NOW!!!!  People are going to be buying like gangbusters these next couple of months to take advantage of the tax credits!!!  It's the perfect time to upgrade!

So let's hear it, what do you think.......

Still not convinced.  Okay, I will do this:  If you buy or sell a house with me, and mention that you chose me because you read this blog, I will give you $200 dollars!!!  That's right!  $200 of my wife's money will be yours if you sell or buy a house with me (and mention the blog).

Alright!  Comment away.....

I can't buy it, it's covered in snow!
January 25th, 2010 12:34 PM

Home inspections, pest inspections and appraisals are difficult in this weather, but we can't let that get in our way!  If you wait for the weather to clear up, you will miss out on the tax credits!

Let's go house shopping! Daytime TV is boring.....

Okay, buddy, you are seriously running out of time....
January 4th, 2010 3:53 PM

This tax credit goes bye bye at the end of March!  If you want to get closed by then, we need to start doing some shopping.  See my home page for details on the credit, and then give me a call, and we will get down to business!!!!

Hope you had a great holiday!  I had to buy an electric snow blower to get out of the 4 feet of snow drift that blocked my garage doors....

Merry Christmas - Buy a House.....
December 1st, 2009 10:03 AM

Okay, Folks, I know what you are thinking:

"Why in the *bleep* would I want to buy a house in the cold Winter months?"

Factually, it's a great time to home shop.  In my opinion, the number one reason would be the lack of other competitive shoppers out there.  You can limit the opportunities for other pesky buyers out there to get you involved in a bidding war!

Plus, beat the Spring rush when the tax credit comes closer to expiration!  People will be going nuts in March and April to beat the tax credit dead line.  Get your home shopping done a head of time!

It's like doing all of your Christmas shopping before Black Friday.....

Speaking of which, I went to Wal-Mart here in Sioux City on Black Friday at 5:00 a.m.  I couldn't get into the store, because the lines to the cash registers were so thick.  It was awesome.

Are Realtors Slimey Salesmen?
November 20th, 2009 11:41 AM

I constantly ask myself why there seems to be a stigma about Realtors.  People tend to view them as slimey salespeople who are only after a commission.  I have certainly had experiences where that is the case, but I have come to discover that being a "salesperson" when it comes to Real Estate will only get you so far.

Do I work solely for a commission?  Unfortunately, yes, but does that mean that I am going to sweet talk a client into buying a property that doesn't best suit their needs so I can make more money?  No way!

The real reward from this career comes from the clients happiness.  Nothing feels better than handing a client a key to their perfect home, regardless of how big or small the commission is!

Real Estate Jargon
November 17th, 2009 2:29 PM

Have you ever seen a house that isn't quite as desirable as the listing sheet paints it to be?  Keep these definitions in mind next time you read one:

Spacious - average
Charming - small
Comfortable - very small
Cozy - very, very small
Low maintenance - no lawn
Walk to stores - nowhere to park your car
Prestgious - expensive
Bright and sunny - venetian blinds not included
Townhouse - former tenement
Modern - 30 to 40 years old
Contemporary - at least 15 years old
Sprawling ranch - inefficient floor plan
Natural setting - forget about planting, the deer will eat everything
Secluded setting - far away
Executive neighborhood - high taxes
Near houses of worship - fanatical denomination next door
Park-like setting - a tree on the block
Unaffected charm - needs painting
Starter home - run down
Hurry! Won't last - about to collapse
And much, much more - nothing else comes to mind
